I Tested Hurley Pickleball Set: My Honest Review and Buying Notes

This set earned its rank as the best budget duo because it offers USAPA approved specs at a price point that makes entry into the sport very simple. It provides a solid baseline for anyone who wants to start playing without a significant financial commitment.

I find that the inclusion of extra grip tapes is a clever inclusion that extends the life of the handles. While it lacks the premium feel of high-end competition paddles, the construction is reliable enough for casual weekend matches.

If you are organizing a backyard tournament or need gear for a small group, this set is the ideal solution. It saves you from buying multiple individual units by providing everything necessary for four people to start playing immediately.

In my view, the value proposition here is hard to beat for families or social gatherings. You might find that the paddles feel slightly generic compared to specialized gear, but they get the job done for recreational fun.

The most interesting feature here is the soft-grip construction that prioritizes comfort during long rallies. It is designed for intermediate players who need more finesse than a standard beginner paddle typically allows.

I think the focus on control makes this a superior choice for those moving away from basic starter sets. The limitation, however, is that some players may find the surface slightly less punchy than a more rigid fiberglass build.

The most common complaint regarding this set is the basic nature of the provided sling bag, which some users find lacks durability. However, this is balanced by the fact that the paddles themselves are well-regarded for their aesthetic appeal and build quality.

I admire the design choices here, as they manage to look professional while remaining beginner-friendly. If you prioritize visual style alongside reliable performance, this is a strong contender.

Compared to the Selkirk set above, this option emphasizes a wide sweetspot that is significantly more forgiving for those still learning their swing mechanics. It is a more utilitarian choice that prioritizes function over the flashier branding of its competitors.

I believe this is the smarter buy for a total beginner who is tired of missing their shots. It lacks the ergonomic refinement of more expensive gear, but the trade-off is a much higher success rate during training.

The popularity of this set stems from the promise of a full court experience in your own driveway. It is a bold offer, though you should keep in mind that setting up a regulation-sized net is a commitment that goes beyond just picking up a paddle.

I find that it delivers on its promise for family games, provided you have a flat, smooth surface to work with. While the net is weather-resistant, it will not withstand extreme winds as well as a permanent professional installation.

This set earns the top spot because it strikes the perfect balance between a durable honeycomb core and a weight profile that is easy to swing. It feels like a genuine tool for the sport rather than a toy, which is exactly what a serious player needs.

In my judgment, this is the one set that provides the best long-term value. While the white aesthetic may show dirt quickly, the performance benefits are well worth the minor maintenance.

This set is specifically designed for multi-generational play, offering a mix of adult and child-sized paddles. It is a fantastic option for schools or community centers where a one-size-fits-all approach simply does not work.

I think the inclusion of smaller paddles is a thoughtful touch that prevents children from feeling left out. The tradeoff is that the adult paddles are functional but basic, which is understandable given the focus on a diverse user base.
